Negotiating Tips
Negotiating is a skill that most people are not born
with. However, it is very easy to learn. With my negotiating
skills I have been fortunate enough to get my sellers
a minimum of 2-1/2% to 4% more in the sale price of
their home. My goal here is to help you learn a few
simple techniques to help you maximize your sale price.
- Don’t be in a rush, take your time
- Don’t
be the first party to give a number out. Wait for
the other side to let their numbers talk first
- After
the first offer is made, don’t say anything
except “We will let you know our reply
within 24 hours”.
- After an offer is accepted,
whether it is a contingent offer or not, don’t
lose your marketing focus or momentum
- Be specific
on the contract for your terms. Like your
closing date, possession date and time, inspections
and re-inspections, time limits on each.
- Whenever
in doubt about any part of the contract or the
price, walk away to give yourself time to think.
